Beneath the city sidewalks
While daylight floods the earth
Denizens of the sewer
Are preparing for the birth
Of a lifeless listless soul
Void or feelings sense or mind
They’re giving birth to a killer
Who preys upon mankind
Murder after midnight all cozy in your bed
Murder after midnight the sheets have all turned red
Asphalt skin of the city
Shelters arteries and veins
Of the underworld connection
Between insanity and the sane
Now excreted through the bowels of time
It prowls the city streets
The sallow shadow of a man in search
Of someone’s life to cheat
Murder after midnight all cozy in your bed
Murder after midnight the sheets have all turned red
Coming off his graveyard shift alone into the night
Furrowed brow and beads of sweat
Something’s not quite right
Traversing through the back streets
Down dank dark alleyways
Unknown to him the path he chose
Has taken him as prey
With vengeance through the darkness
Comes the demon from behind
With a quick and sudden jerk
Another fades into the light
Murder after midnight all cozy in your bed
All cozy in your bed
Murder after midnight the sheets have all turned red
We’ve all been left for dead
Murder after midnight
